In the middle of the tick season, a good tick defense is the be-all and end-all for animals and humans. After all, the pesky beasts can transmit dangerous diseases. Due to the warm winters, the ectoparasites multiply almost all year round: their population is constantly increasing and with it the risk of becoming a victim of the bloodsuckers. In addition, the tick repellent spray also has a damaging effect on the chitinous shell of the insects.

Zitra: oil against ticks for dogs and cats

In our search for an effective but natural substance against ticks, we came across the lemon eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora). Native to the east coast of Australia, the decorative, 30 to 50 meter tall tree with a strikingly light bark offers an herbal weapon against ticks: an intensely eucalyptus and lemon scented essential oil. The flowery aroma, which is pleasant to the human nose, triggers disgust in ticks - figuratively speaking - and prevents them from biting the skin. At the same time, it has a paralyzing effect on the insects' respiration, attacks the chitinous shell and dries them out.

Ingredients of lemon eucalyptus

The oil stored in the pith and bark of lemon eucalyptus contains an important ingredient with which the plant protects itself from predators. Citriodiol has an intense smell and acts as a deterrent to the extremely sensitive olfactory organs of insects. 

Used regularly, Zitra serves the defense and thus the prevention of disease. Your pet will attract significantly fewer ticks and thus be exposed to less risk of pathogens.

Use biocidal products with care. Always read label and product information before use. Contains citronellol. May cause allergic reactions. Causes severe eye irritation. Keep out of the reach of children. Wear protective gloves/eye protection/face protection. Dispose of contents/container to an approved waste disposal facility.

IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove any contact lenses if possible. Continue to rinse. If eye irritation persists: Seek medical advice/attention.

Recommendation for use

Vor Gebrauch schütteln. Zitra Spray 1-2 x täglich gegen den Fellstrich aufsprühen, Fell gleichmäßig durchfeuchten, dann einmassieren. Gesicht und Augenbereich nicht direkt einsprühen, sondern mit den noch feuchten Händen entsprechend behandeln. Direkten Kontakt mit Augen und Schleimhäuten vermeiden!
