What is hydrogen peroxide?

In concentrated form, hydrogen peroxide has a pale blue color. Diluted - i.e. in the commercial solution - it is colorless and odorless. More viscous than water, the substance belongs to weak acids and has the ability to oxidize other substances.

In use since time immemorial as a bleach and disinfectant, it can also serve (in very high concentrations) as rocket fuel. In everyday use, however, a weak 3% solution is commonplace - but even diluted this much with water, hydrogen peroxide develops amazing powers.
