100% organic seaweed meal from the alga Ascophyllum Nodosum for dogs and cats.
The seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum comes mainly from the coasts of the North Atlantic. It is both a natural source of iodine and a supplier of high amounts of various trace elements and minerals, including iron and magnesium. Seaweed meal from the Ascophyllum nodosum is for good reason a very common supplement to meet the iodine requirement in a natural way.
Anyone who has seen the brown alga called kelp in the flesh will immediately know why it is also called knotted kelp. Its long stalks look like strings of pearls with oval tubers - or nodes - lined up in a row. Ascophyllum nodosum - its Latin name - is a wild macroalga that grows several meters long, but can survive only in the cleanest seawater. But its greatest strength lies not in its pretty appearance, nor in its function as a reliable indicator of water quality. The power of kelp algae lies in its iodine content and in the numerous other nutrients that make brown algae a highly interesting food supplement.
Iodine from kelp
The aquatic plant known as knotted kelp is native to the rocky coastal waters of the North Atlantic, but is also found in the North Sea and Baltic Sea and near the Canary Islands. The seaweed is able to filter out even the smallest amounts of trace elements, vitamins, minerals and amino acids from the cold, clear sea water and accumulate them in its cells. Penetrating the cell membrane allows the valuable micronutrients to become biologically dynamic, making them more digestible for dogs. Thus, Ascophyllum nodosum provides high-quality natural nutrients in the dried and ground algae in great abundance to your pet.
Iodine content in dog bowl
The brown seaweed inspires dog nutritionists with a high proportion of natural iodine, which must be supplied to the quadruped from the outside. Skeptics argue on the subject of iodine, however, that the wolf does not get any seaweed in nature. That is also correct, however wild living carnivores are available whole loot animals, inclusive thyroid, over which the essential trace element is taken up. With the conventional dog feeding, also with Barfen, the thyroid gland is not present in the rations as a rule, since it is sold by the slaughterhouses mostly to the pharmaceutical industry. Only, who has the possibility to serve his dog complete prey animals, does not have to worry about the iodine supply.
Knotweed: The maritime superfood
The intake of iodine through the diet is essential for dogs. However, the iodine content of fresh algae - similar to that of animal thyroid tissue - often fluctuates greatly. For this reason, brown algae are available from Waldkraft in dried form as a high-quality powder - with a constant iodine value. In addition to this trace element, which is essential for the body, kelp also contains a variety of other high-quality nutrients and is therefore a valuable addition to a dog's diet. Ascophyllum nodosum is very rich in iron, calcium, sodium, potassium, manganese, zinc, B vitamins and alginates. Alginate is an acidic polysaccharide that is used in medicine to heal wounds , treat reflux and heartburn, among other things.
Seaweed meal: nutrient bomb for dogs
Due to the wealth of vital micronutrients, the brown algae can make an important contribution to the basic supply of your dog. The powdered kelp provides nutrition for coat and skin, tendons, muscles and connective tissue, but also strengthens the normal function of the immune system and cell metabolism and supports the gastrointestinalflora. On the market, brown seaweed is available as pressed pellets, and kelp capsules are also quite common. However, the algae powder for dogs is the easiest to administer and most four-legged friends love both the smell and taste of the sea.
