"Green Dog: The practical guide for environmentally conscious dog owners
The book "Green Dog" is a manifesto for nature and a plea for animal protection. The author, Kinga Rybinska, understands this to be much greater than dog adoption or the occasional donation. For her, animal protection starts in the dog bowl and goes hand in hand with the dilemma between the exuberant love of dogs and the frightening indifference towards so-called farm animals. A balancing act, which can become for environmentally conscious dog owners already times a daring project: Is a species-appropriate, but animal suffering-free dog diet even possible?
Uncomfortable questions and the search for answers
In five chapters, the Polish-born author deals with further uncomfortable questions. If you want to protect your beloved pet - according to Rybinska's thesis - you must, if possible, keep it away from the influences of the profit-oriented feed industry and from the chemical-heavy pharmaceutical industry. Instead of a chemical club, the journalist recommends naturopathy and natural cosmetics. The slogan "back to nature" by no means applies only to humans. Even - or especially - pets, for whom we bear a great responsibility, must not fall victim to greed for profit and convenience.
Theses, tests and tips
On 312 pages, the curious reader will find exciting interviews with luminaries of the dog industry, true-to-life ideas for a green everyday life with dogs, valuable tips on the subject of home remedies and plant power, but also study results around harmful substances in dog toys or a list of questionable ingredients in dog shampoos. During the thirteen months of research, Kinga Rybinska traveled over 7,000 kilometers through Germany, Austria and Switzerland to talk to holistic veterinarians, look behind the scenes of green manufactures and track down sustainable trends.
Five chapters for the welfare of animals
The numerous insights, aha-effects and experiences Rybinska has gathered on her journey have resulted in a guidebook that points out risks, but above all shows alternatives.
The five chapters are:
- For the benefit of animal friends: Between dog love and cow consumption
- What goes into the bowl? Between the interests of the feed industry and the dog needs
- Health: Between conventional medicine and naturopathy
- Care and therapy products: Between the chemical club and natural cosmetics
- Accessories for dogs: Between fashion and minimalism
