Used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2000 years, Artemisia annua has remained largely unknown in our latitudes or is merely dismissed as a weed. Its relative Artemisia absinthium, wormwood, from which the alcoholic drink absinthe is made, has made it much further. 

Mugwort: lived modesty

A beauty contest would certainly not win the annual plant. 50 to 250 centimeters high, the stem is usually completely bare, but has many side shoots that produce yellow, cup-shaped individual flowers to bloom. Its pleasantly beguiling fragrance is striking. The finely pinnate leaves end with a comb-shaped tip. The seeds of Artemisia annua overwinter in the soil and germinate in spring. Originally at home in the summer-warm rainy regions of Eurasia, the annual mugwort now also grows in southern Europe as well as in Germany, widespread along the Elbe.

Forest power quality

Our Artemisia Annua plants are grown in uncontaminated soil and their leaves are gently dried. We offer the annual mugwort in three varieties and 2 sizes each:

• a tincture - with alcohol
• Extract based on glycerin - alcohol-free
• Extract on the basis of Oxymel (sour honey) - alcohol-free

All three variants are an excellent extraction and preservation option: The valuable plant substances can be dissolved very well in it and the extract remains durable for a long time.
 

What is Oxymel?

The composition of Oxymel comes directly from the name: In Greek, "oxy" means - sour and "méli" - honey. The unique combination of sweetness and acidity is known in the history of advanced civilizations since ancient times and consists of honey and vinegar. In remote regions of Russia, Oxymel, diluted with well water, is drunk to start the day. For our mixture with annual mugwort we use 3/4 organic linden blossom honey and 1/4 apple cider vinegar. Mixed with Artemisia, its ingredients migrate into the liquid and the beneficial properties of honey and apple cider vinegar are preserved.

Recommendation for use

Artemisia can be rubbed into the coat up to 3 times a day. Artemisia scent has a relaxing effect.

Artemisia Annua, ultrapure water, depending on the variant either Oxymel (sour honey), glycerin or 40% organic alcohol (vol. 96% Alc.)

Store tightly closed, dry, protected from light and cool. Keep out of reach of children.
